A probe sonicator, also called an ultrasonic processor or ultrasonic homogenizer, delivers focused, high-intensity ultrasonic energy straight into a liquid sample through a titanium probe. At 20–24 kHz it produces intense cavitation at the probe tip. This disrupts cells, reduces particle size, forms emulsions and drives sonochemical reactions.

Cell disruption (bacteria, yeast, mammalian cells), DNA/RNA shearing, nanoparticle synthesis, emulsification, graphene and nanotube dispersion, and sonochemistry. These jobs need more power than an ultrasonic bath can deliver.
A bath spreads gentle energy through the whole liquid and suits cleaning and indirect processing. A probe focuses intense energy into a small sample, giving a far higher power density at the tip. Probe sonicators are for sample processing, not cleaning.
Yes. Use pulse mode (for example 5 s on / 5 s off) and an ice bath to limit the temperature rise. For controlled temperature, pair the probe with our sonicator chiller unit.
Smaller tips (3–6 mm) concentrate energy for small volumes. Larger tips (13–25 mm) handle bigger volumes. Tell us your sample volume and application and we will recommend the tip and power.
